Testimonials

Leanne has been my external supervisor for over a year. As a social worker and manager I have a dual role, Leanne has provided me with in depth analysis of the complexities I face, trying to navigate the duality of these often conflicting positions. She has continued to provide a supervision setting where reflective, solution focused practice is encouraged, and assisted me in formulating strategies to maintain my social work professional standards whilst effectively managing a team of support staff and caseload of clients. She is always professional, punctual and passionate about supporting best practice standards, and has mentored my management skills and style, whilst always giving positive constructive feedback.

I have no hesitation in recommending Leanne in her role as a Professional Supervisor. She has a great skill-set, and provides a safe and neutral place in which it is possible to reflect, unpack and explore the complexities and ethical dilemmas that arise all too often in health service delivery. Leanne is calm, compassionate and empathetic in her approach, and takes the time to ensure that both the emotional impact, and the practical aspects of challenging situations are thoroughly examined, before moving on to problem-solve potential solutions in a collaborative manner. Leanne is always careful to check in with me before the session ends that I am comfortable with the plan of intended actions, and any potential obstacles are considered. I am grateful for the insights she offers, and her ability to provide an external perspective to my practice.

Leanne has provided me with supervision through Skype. She has been very flexible around arrangements and Skyping has worked well for me. Leanne is great at slowing me down, helping me to consider and reflect on why I am feeling about something and what is the basis of my thinking. I feel confident that I have Leanne to discuss situations with and to be guided into reflective practice. Leanne has assisted in me looking positively at my work instead of being unhelpfully critical about what I do. I have a sign on my computer, “What went well?” that I look at every day and always when I shut down the computer for the day. This has helped me to focus on the successes of the day as in Social Work it is very easy to feel things have not been completed. Leanne has also provided guidance regarding professional development ideas.

Leanne was my external supervisor over the course of approximately nine months when I was transitioning from one job to another. The role I was in was a temporary position covering maternity leave and I was able to have a short induction with the outgoing manager. However the learning and support that I needed during this time was extensive considering that I was new in the position and to the company. Leanne provided me with some excellent, focused and strengths based ideas, was a really reflective listener and gave me the opportunity to ‘vent’ and ‘download’ in a safe environment. She also provided me with some really appropriate guidance around some difficult and challenging processes that were intrinsic to the growth of the team and for myself. I would highly recommend Leanne as a professional external supervisor.
